Bedford River Festival

12th - 13th July 2008

Bedford River Festival 2008 hosts a huge range of watersports champions and stars at the majorsporty.com watersports arena. Festival visitors will get to see GB stars at the watersports arena from the sports of canoe polo, freestyle kayaking, Thundercat Racing, wakeboarding and stand-up paddle surf. Local people from Viking Kayak Club and several local schools will also be taking part in Slalom and canoe polo competitions. Elsewhere on the river we will have canoe racing from the schools, rafting with the GB white water rafting team and a host of top UK slalom paddlers at Duckmill sluices. Head down to the watersports arena and enjoy seeing some of the best watersports stars on show and have a go yourself at the Viking Kayak Club ‘Come and Try It’ sessions.

Weymouth & Portland’s ‘Spirit of the Sea’

5th -13th July 2008

Celebrating the area’s close relationship with the sea, the festival brings together a range of sporting activities, cultural events and entertainment – all on a maritime theme.

These include a number of high profile competitive sailing races taking place in the world-class sailing waters of Weymouth Bay and Portland Harbour. In particular, the Henri-Lloyd Weymouth Regatta, the J24 National and the Moth World Sailing Championships promise to draw together some of the elite sailing talent from across the globe.

Alternatively, visitors can enjoy a wide range of events and activities ashore including live beach entertainment, the Dorset Sea Food Festival, the Maritime Modeling Festival and a Marine Exhibition.

This years new Show runs from 25th-27th of July 2008.  With over 15, 000 visitors expected over the three days it makes for a great day out for all the family.

The Show caters for all your interests within the marine industry coupled with a selection of great family attractions including the famous ‘free’ Come and Try on the lake.

Queen Mary Sailing Club  

Queen Mary Sailing Club

Queen Mary Sailing Club is a large and successful club west of London near Staines. It owns and operates a high quality sailing school and also is a major centre for Onboard and Sailability. It has approximately 1400 members, amongst whom can be found Olympic, International and National champions, as well as beginners in both sailing and windsurfing. Members sail a wide range of Dinghies and Keelboats, with racing on Sunday morning, and in the summer, on Wednesday evening.

Ocean BMW Torbay Week 2008 

22-27 August 2008

Ocean BMW Torbay Week 2008 is an exciting NEW sailing event replacing the three existing Torbay regattas (Torquay, Brixham and Paignton). That means great racing for a IRC yachts, sportsboats, keelboats and dinghies, along with après sail fun at Torbay's sailing and yachting clubs. There'll be plenty of shorebased excitement for visitors and spectators too!
The setting of Torbay couldn't be better either, with the large, sheltered bay providing fantastic sailing conditions in a climate that is noted as being much warmer than the rest of the UK. Its horseshoe shape means lots of close-up spectating opportunities too.
