Callista - Research Vessel

Callista is a purpose built catamaran, based at the
National Oceanography Centre, Southampton, that is designed to give
researchers the best possible platform to carry out science. At
almost 20-metres long, the twin-hulled vessel has a large rear deck
with an `A’ frame for equipment deployment. Callista also
features the latest scientific equipment in wet and dry
laboratories.
Southampton Boat Show visitors can go aboard
Callista at Berth 60 to find out more about the vital work
that helps us understand the way the oceans work. Participants get
to take a closer look at animal and plant life in our coastal
waters, find out about the ecology of the seabed and the effects of
global warming, as well as the impact of humans on the oceans.
They will also have the chance to sign up for trips throughout
the year offering hands-on experience of marine science.
Discover Oceanography activity days can be tailored for a range of
groups and needs, from parties of schoolchildren to companies who
want to run team development away days that provide their staff
with greater awareness of the marine environment and the effect of
the oceans on climate change.
Callista will be on Berth 60 on the Hydropool Marina from the 13th to the 17th of
