Katie Miller's yacht racing - Hot Socks

Hot Socks is the racing yacht belonging to
Katie Miller, Ambassador for the PSP Southampton Boat Show and 2006
Raymarine Young Sailor of the Year. Katie and Hot Socks have
recently returned from their recent triumph in the bluQube 1,000
miles race - her first major solo event. The bluQube is the
official qualifier for the 2009 OSTAR, the iconic transatlantic
race previously won by Dame Ellen MacArthur OBE.
Competing against 23 other boats, sleep deprivation and several
dolphins eager to join in the race, Katie and Hot Socks, the Figaro
II race boat, crossed the finish line on 11th July and won Best
Rookie, Open Class Two Overall Winner, The ANA Overall winner of
the BluQube 1000 solo, and the Endeavour Trophy voted for by the
competing skippers.
Katie is currently both the youngest and the only female entrant
is the OSTAR race that was first run in 1960 when it was won by
sailing legend Francis Chichester in Gipsy Moth III. The 2009 race
will leave Plymouth on 25 May and head for Newport, Rhode Island on
the East coast of the USA.
