First person to sail/race non-stop and solo around the world in
both east and westabout directions.
Numerous WSSRC World Sailing Speed Records including "King of the
South" records from the three great Southern Ocean Capes in both
west and east-about directions.
Winner of the BT Global Challenge Race (fully crewed around the
world race) in 1996/7.
Three Vendee Globe Races (solo non stop around the world
eastabout) (2000,7th) (2004,3rd) (2008, Dismasted
whilst leading).
World Champion - FICO (Federation International Course
Oceanic) 2005/6.
World Champion - IMOCA (International 60 feet Monohull Open
Class Association) 2004 and 2005 - the only British sailor to hold
this title.
Currently competing for the first time in the iShares Cup as
skipper of the Ecover Extreme 40.
