Signalman Jones is his first book ,an extraordinary story of an unusual and courageous man who started out as a boy signalman RNVR in a first world war Battle Cruiser HMS Renown  and who by the end of the Second World War was captain of his own ship. In his turn Tim Parker joined the RNVR as an ordinary Seaman and in the early  !950's and spent six months on an Aircraft Carrier  HMS Indefatigable swinging at anchor in Portland Harbour Just a few nautical miles from Southampton.
