Dreamtime of Blackwater

Dreamtime of Blackwater & the westerly owners
association
The Westerly Owners’ Association was founded in 1966
and from small beginnings has grown to become the largest yacht
owners’ group in the world. With dispersed camaraderie, great
technical support and an unrivalled range of sailing and social
opportunities, the Association prides itself on being a very
interactive organisation.
Over 12,000 British-built boats rolled
off the Westerly production line during the years from 1966 to
2000, so it is easy to see why WOA Commodore Judith Symonds
maintains that there is potential for recruiting still greater
numbers. The Association’s first yearbook recorded 103 members in
1966. That total had grown to 1,000 by 1993, climbing to twice that
by the turn of the millennium, and over 3,000 today.
This year at the PSP Southampton Boat Show you
will be able to see an excellent example of why the Westerly yachts
were so popular with Dreamtime of Blackwater, a Westerly Oceanlord,
attending for the 18th and 19th
September.
Originally commissioned for trans-Atlantic
Passages and Caribbean cruising she enter the ARC race in 1996
before sailing to the western Med and, like so many rugged
Westerlys, remains in outstanding condition.
See Dreamtime of Blackwater at the Show from 18th - 19th
September on berth M534
