Excel Boats has launched a state-of-the-art yacht tender with a folding transom to allow easy storage and free up space.

The new Virago range features a device which allows the outboard engine to fold back into the boat to maintain a low profile and the ability to be stowed in a locker or on deck. Using existing construction techniques from the Excel Voyager and Vantage RIBs range, the new lightweight craft benefits from a non-slip aluminium deck, a newly designed console and seating area and boasts a 40hp Suzuki engine.

Terry Wright, Managing Director at Excel Boats, said: “We are excited to launch this brand new craft which features a folding transom to reduces both height and length and allows storage in places where space is a premium, such as a superyacht garage. We firmly this versatile craft provides a cost effective alternative to more expensive options and will appeal to the commercial and recreational markets alike.”

Visitors to the upcoming Southampton Boat Show 2017 will get the chance to find out more about the new feature and see the Excel Vanguard inflatable boat on display – a popular choice with search and rescue operators. Excel Boats use leading design and traditional construction methods to produce an extensive range of high specification inflatable boats and RIBs. Finished hulls undergo a corrosion-resistant conversion process called ‘chromate coating’ before powder coating which is oven cured to ensure a smart and durable finish. All models can be custom rigged complete with console and remote controls as required.

Based at Sutton Coldfield in the West Midlands, the company is a keen player in the UK and international markets and has supplied safety boats to the organisers of the London Olympic and Paralympic Games, the European Games in Azerbaijan and rescue boats to a flood disaster in Pakistan.

Mr Wright commented: “The Excel Vanguard offers the ideal solution for water rescues requiring fast deployment with a strong and stable platform. The fully inflatable craft is designed to suit the needs of emergency services and is also a popular choice with diving clubs as they are reliable and sturdy in the harshest of conditions. We look forward to welcoming visitors to our stand to view all the models on display.”
