Fear is an Albin Vega 27 built in 1975. She has been rebuilt and adapted by myself and my family to enable me to sail solo without the use of my wheelchair. This has been primarily done through a strap system that holds me on the windward side of the boat without the use of my legs and everything lead back to the cockpit allowing me to operate it from a fixed position.
The Albin Vega also called the Vega 27 is a Swedish sailboat that was designed by Per Brohall as a cruiser and first built in 1965. It is known for its recreational keelboat design featuring a masthead sloop rig, aluminum spars and a deck-stepped mast. The boat has a displacement of 2300kg and carries 915kg of ballast making it suitable for various sailing conditions. The interior layout includes a double v-berth in the bow cabin and two settees in the main cabin. It is recognized for its reliability, seaworthiness and ease of handling.
