MB Yachts is based in the South Coast of the UK and has completed numerous hand built yachts for discerning owners who can request any type of custom modification.
Our speciality is the ability to completely craft every and all aspect of a seaworthy vessel from raw materials in any design required by the client.
We have undertaken this to great effect on the wide and numerous projects we have worked on over our 40 years of experience with some truly impressive boats and delighted owners. We work with you to realise your dream and complete your ambitions. We restore existing craft, renovate shells or originate full projects from technically drafted designs.
Our aim at MB Yachts is to make beautiful custom built boats. No two boats are the same by the time they leave the yard.
Martyn and his team of craftsmen specialise in unique interiors, with no expense spared. ‘We use high quality and exotic timbers for the interior woodwork, and will carry out any special individual requirements the owner might request.’
Our aim is to combine timeless style with modern materials, to construct beautifully detailed interiors that also address themselves to the needs of practical living, all in a hull that is in line with contemporary cruising yacht design.
Martyn is well qualified for the tasks in hand. He went straight from school into an apprenticeship with Sandbanks Yacht Company and progressed through the industry to general foreman at Poole’s Southern Ocean Shipyard, becoming self-employed on the firm’s closure. After a period abroad, gaining further boat restoration experience in countries like Holland and Spain, he came back to Dorset and bought himself a Tradewind 35 hull to fit out in his spare time and the project took him 3.5 years! On completion, the owner of Tradewind Yachts was so impressed with the finish and interior of Martyn’s self-build that he asked him to build them a 30-footer for the Southampton Boat Show. In desperate need of space for the build, he took on the premises at Wimborne, and his firm MB Yachts was launched, since then he has continued to produce and refit the yachts to his demanding high standard. In 2003, due to further expansion Martyn has relocated to a larger factory unit near Blandford.
“I remember the kind of yachts I used to admire as being a joy to look at and I want to recreate the experience of a boat that is as pleasing to the eye as she is to sail. For this reason I think that a graceful sheerline and elegant overhangs are as important as a deck layout that is easy and safe to move around on."
Est 1996 MB Yachts is pleased to be exhibiting again this year at Southampton boatshow. It has been exciting year after winning Classic Boat awards 2017 and launching the newest design Rene 36' come to take a look at this unique and rare company down on Marina Stand M455.
