Specialist galley manufacturer GN Espace is set to replace a globe-trotting cooker that it supplied back in 2010 to the Jolie Brise, the legendary 108 year old winner of the first Fastnet race back in 1925, which has been owned by Dauntsey’s School since 1977.
The specialist manufacturer of cookers, sinks and accessories built to the highest standards of craftsmanship for motor and sailing yachts, is exhibiting at this week’s Southampton Boat Show on stand J312, while the Jolie Brise, a gaff cutter, can herself be seen in the show marina.
Jolie Brise is eyeing up GN Espace’s very latest offer, the OceanChef XL induction electric cooker, a professional sized marine cooker designed with cutting edge energy saving technology. The four-zone hob can be combined into larger areas by bridging them into one or two oval cooking zones, perfect for producing large volumes of good food for hungry young sailors.
The cooker it will replace, an OceanChef XL LPG, has served its time well, having been used to prepare some 36 meals a day, totalling 3,500 each summer season. The cooker has also withstood over 80,000 nautical miles including four Atlantic crossings and destinations from 200 miles north of the Arctic circle to south of the Western Sahara.
