The Dufour 460 GL's exterior aft-deck galley and BBQ takes on board living up a gear

The Dufour 460 Grand Large will be making its UK debut at The Southampton Boat Show 2017. The Grand Large range has been designed to make sailing a pleasurable and comfortable experience both under sail and at anchor.  The combination of the French ethos of using innovative materials and modular layouts plus the clean, elegant Italian designs from Umberto Felci creates a feature packed range of spacious, airy yachts that perform and handle well too.

The majestic 460 GL maximises the space on board, with options for three or four cabins, without compromising on sailing performance and easy handling. Living areas have been redesigned to create the perfect relaxation space offering a bow galley option, generous sunbathing seats, a roomy cockpit, and a wide transom and bathing platform.  The GL 460 packs many of the features of her bigger sisters, the GL 560 and Exclusive 56.

Dufour 460 GL - living space

Dufour’s research shows that their owners spend over 70% of time above decks, so significant work has been devoted to designing the 460GL for outdoor living.

The 460 GL’s external galley is an innovation that makes this boat stand out from others of this size. Hidden under the lifting rear seating is a fully equipped external galley that includes a large gas BBQ, sink and fridge. The concept takes on board living to new heights and means that alfresco catering at anchor is an inclusive social experience for all, and there’s no-one ‘stuck down below’ whilst others relax on deck.

When lowered in position, the spacious aft platform reveals a large area for guests to bath easily and safely, and provides additional space around the galley for relaxing.

The concept of maximising space is extended below decks too, and the 460GL offers owners a variety of three and four cabin versatile interior layouts.

Large flush mounted deck and hull windows add to the feeling of space by projecting vast amounts of natural light into the saloon and aft cabins.  The living area offers spacious seating and dining, and you can create additional interior space by sliding the chart table away when in harbour.

A well equipped galley, offering plenty of stowage space and a high capacity fridge/freezer, can be positioned as a forward or side (long) galley in the three cabin/three heads model, and as a long galley for the four cabin layout, which also includes four heads.

The intelligent use of space and ambient light is complemented with the use of solid wood finishes and luxurious furnishings and fittings.  This adds to the feeling of an open and spacious living environment, making the 460GL an ideal choice for family cruising, as well as offering flexible set ups for chartering.

Dufour 460 GL - sailing experience

The wide hull and sharp chines optimise space on board as well as increasing stability and reducing heeling moment to give excellent performance and easy handling. An ergonomically designed steering position offers the skipper easy access to sail controls and winches, as well as side and front facing seating.   The generous, deep cockpit seats come with thick cushions for total relaxation.

A high aspect rig design, with fully battened mainsail enhances sailing performance and a self-tacking jib makes sail handling easy for novice guests. Optional genoa tracks allow more sail area to be set.  The integrated bowsprit has two useful functions, enabling easy mounting of the Code Zero and asymmetric sails, and it neatly stows the anchor with better protection for the bow.
