COME ABOARD MY BOAT – AND LEARN ABOUT CIRCUMNAVIGATING BRITAIN
In August 2023 British sailor Mark Ashley-Miller completed a five year, charity circumnavigation of the British Isles. During the Harbour Master Sailing Challenge, he sailed 9,000 nautical-miles and raised over £30,000 for The Seafarers’ Charity.
Mark sailed his 34ft Nauticat, Good Dog, around the whole of Britain and Ireland, (including the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands), visiting 310 harbours and interviewing 256 Harbour Masters in England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland. He was assisted by over 100 different crew members.
His ambitious expedition was conceived from a deep-seated passion for sailing and a desire to support the seafaring community. He has now written a book entitled Harbours and their Masters. Packed with maritime history it reveals the hidden world of the remarkable men and women who are the guardians of our ports and harbours. With a foreword by HRH The Princess Royal, it is being launched at the Southampton International Boat Show.
