World’s largest marine antiques and decor stockist Trinity Marine has announced 2 major pieces going to Southampton International Boat Show 2022. As well as their amazing range of reclaimed ships lights, fixtures and fittings they will be displaying a number of jaw dropping pieces including a huge c.1920s navigation beacon and an outstanding lighthouse Fresnel lens coffee table.
“We are very pleased to announce that we will be unveiling one of our most spectacular finds in recent times. After months of restoration, we are delighted to be able to give the first public viewing of this beautiful original navigation beacon at Southampton Boat Show”
Mark Jameson, Owner of Trinity Marine
Standing at just over 2 metres tall, this magnificent Trinity House navigation beacon, made by Chance Brothers has been stripped back by specialists and restored to the highest standard.
Discovered looking sorry for itself in a garden in Kent, England. According to the family it was one of the main navigation aids from a pier head on the Thames. From its style and maker, Chance Brothers, this would have been originally installed anywhere between 1900 to the 1920’s.
On its original cast iron pedestal with lovely large rivets, the beautiful bronze beacon couldn’t be better presented and will be available for all to see on Trinity Marine’s stand SO36.
Something just as spectacular on display for the first time will be a stunning huge ‘Drum Fresnel Lens’ made by AGA c.1910’s, and in near perfect condition. Equally beautiful and breath-taking as it is functional, the perfect example, in terms of size and condition, of the iconic Fresnel drum lighthouse lens. It would be enough as a stand-alone sculptural piece but Trinity Marine have enhanced this huge lens by converting, without harming it, into a centrepiece coffee table mounted on a walnut base and integral remote control wireless light fitting, using an original AGA lighthouse ‘burner’ converted to electricity.
“I’m so pleased to have found this amazing piece and now to have it restored and ready in time for the Boat Show fills me with joy and excitement, we can’t wait to show it off ”
