The Southampton International Boat Show has partnered with Southampton Hospitals Charity and their prestigious event ‘Light the South’, a large-scale public art trail. Throughout the summer there will be forty magnificent 8ft lighthouse sculptures on display through the streets and public spaces of Southampton and Cowes, each designed by local and renowned artists.

As the dedicated hospital charity at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS), Southampton Hospitals Charity funds life-saving equipment to help patients, fund pioneering research to improve outcomes, and provide patients with the best care and experience possible. Specifically, Light the South art trail will raise vital funds for Southampton Children’s Hospital – one of the top three paediatric treatment centres in the country.

Southampton Children’s Hospital cares for babies, children, and young people right across the south of England as well as the Isle of Wight and the Channel Islands, providing 27 different specialist services on site including children’s heart surgery, neurological, cancer, trauma, and intensive care, making Southampton Children’s Hospital a very special and unique place.

The lighthouse trail will launch across Southampton and Cowes in July, with over eighty stunning works of art for the public to find and enjoy, including forty mini lights designed by local schools. Following this, the lighthouses will all be brought together for a final celebration at the Southampton International Boat Show, allowing all show visitors to enjoy them and make those all-important final donations! After this, the lighthouses will be auctioned off at the show, raising even more funds for this fantastic cause. Come and see these works of art for yourself this September and make a difference for those in need.
