Morvargh Sailing Project is a volunteer-led organisation based in Cornwall, delivering Sail Training voyages that help young people develop confidence, resilience, independence and self-belief.
Our voyages are challenging and purposeful, but they’re also fun, memorable and full of experiences that young people talk about long after they return home.
Our work takes place aboard Helen Mary R, a 57-foot sailing vessel where young people become part of the crew from the moment they step aboard. They learn to sail, live and work together, share responsibility and discover what they can achieve.
It was honestly the best 10 straight days of my life, and it completely made my little over a week in every way, from the people to the boat to anything really. I just loved this, learning so many skills, and meeting great people who I will definitely stay in contact with. Easily 10/10 experience and would recommend it to anyone with the opportunity.

Founded in 2010, Morvargh Sailing Project is a Community Interest Company, with every pound we raise or earn reinvested into our voyages, our young people and the care of Helen Mary R.
Our voyages are open to young people aged 11 and over from Cornwall, the South West and beyond. Crews are mixed and inclusive; young people arrive with different backgrounds, abilities and levels of confidence, but everyone has a role to play.
Helen Mary R has an extraordinary history of her own. Built specifically for Sail Training and launched in 1986, she has spent 40 years giving young people opportunities for adventure at sea and has welcomed more than 6,000 young people aboard. In 2026, she was named Association of Sail Training Organisations / Maritime & Coastguard Agency Sail Training Vessel of the Year 2026.
At the Southampton International Boat Show, we’re officially launching ASPIRE360, our most ambitious Sail Training expedition yet.
In spring 2027, ten young people aged 14–18 will become the crew of Helen Mary R for an extraordinary 38-day, 2,000-mile voyage around the United Kingdom.
ASPIRE360 is the only Sail Training expedition of its kind in the UK. The same ten young people will undertake the entire circumnavigation together, leaving Fowey as one crew and sharing more than five weeks of adventure, challenge and life at sea before sailing home again.
No previous sailing experience is required. Applications open at the show on Friday 18 September. Come aboard to meet us, discover what the expedition will involve and find out how to apply.
