Bringing the Wooden Boat Stage to life on the water, the Wooden Boat Stage Afloat will showcase a special collection of standout wooden boats with unique stories and outstanding craftsmanship for visitors to experience up close – selected by the Wooden Boat Stage organisers Women in Boat Building, Wooden Boatbuilders’ Trade Association and Boat Building Academy.

Gelyce

Gelyce was built by Camper & Nicholsons at Gosport in 1930. J-Class tender to Shamrock, beautifully restored with a stunning 175hp 1960’s Aluminium Rolls Royce engine.

Larry

1907 Gaff cutter owned by writer/illustrator Hannah Stowe, recently returned from summer adventure to the West Coast of Ireland, re-tracing a route made by 16th century seafarer, Gráinne, or Grace O’Malley.

Guide of Dunkirk

Commissioned in 1939 by the Girl Guides, but taken straight to Dunkirk by the Navy, ‘Guide of Dunkirk’ is a unique restoration project led by Abbey Boat Builder on the Norfolk Broads.

Apache 555

Wooden Offshore racing boat from 1970’s fame making a comeback in 2026. Dan Lee - the boatbuilder and boatbuilding influencer – is part of the team renovating and racing Apache 555 this summer. Dan is hosting a panel on the second Sunday on the Wooden Boat Stage, bringing together members from the original racing team.
