Terms and Conditions
1. Definitions
Closing Date: as defined in clause 3.1;
Competition: The Marine Careers and Education Competition as more particularly described in clause 2;
Event: Southampton International Boat Show 2019 which takes place from 13 – 22 September 2019 (inclusive) at Mayflower Park, Town Quay, Southampton SO14 2AQ;
Opening Date: as defined in clause 3.1;
Organiser: Southampton International Boat Show Limited (Company number 01247541) of Tagus House, 9 Ocean Way, Southampton SO14 3TJ;
Prize: the prize awarded to the winner of the Competition as more particularly described in clause 5;
Rockley Watersports: Rockley Watersports Limited (Company number 03722559) of 6a Dover Road, Branksome Park, Poole, Dorset, BH13 6DZ.
2. The Competition
2.1 The Competition is an observational quiz in which participants will search for the answer to 20 questions which can be found at locations within the confines of the Event.
3. How to enter
3.1 The Competition will run during the Event public open hours between Friday 13 September 2019 (the “Opening Date“) and Sunday 22 September 2019 (the “Closing Date”) inclusive.
3.2 All Competition entries must be received by the Organiser by no later than 14:00 hours on the Closing Date. All Competition entries received after such time on the Closing Date will be automatically disqualified.
3.3 To enter the Competition participants need to deliver by the Closing Date their completed quiz answers on the form provided by the Organiser to the Organiser’s Marine Careers Education Stand at the Event (located in the interactive zone in the marquee Event entrance) and place them within designated post box.
3.4 By submitting a Competition entry, you are agreeing to be bound by these terms and conditions.
3.5 Participants must ensure that they clearly record their contact details on the form. If the participant is under the age of 16 then contact details of a parent or guardian must be given.
3.6 The Competition entries will be judged by the Organiser based on the most number of correct answers. The decision of the Organiser as to the accuracy of the answers will be final.
3.7 In the event that there is more than one participant who has answered the most number of questions correctly, the Organiser will pick a single winner from that pool of participants at random shortly after the Closing Date.
4. Eligibility
4.1 As all the answers to the quiz can be found at locations within the confines of the Event, it is a condition of entry of the Competition that participants must hold a valid ticket for the Event.
4.2 The Competition is only open to all residents in the UK of any age however please see relevant Prize age restrictions in clause 6.1. The Competition is not open to:
4.2.1 employees of the Organiser or its holding or subsidiary companies;
4.2.2 employees of agents or suppliers of the Organiser or its holding or subsidiary companies, who are professionally connected with the Competition or its administration; or
4.2.3 members of the immediate families or households of 4.2.1 and 4.2.2 above.
4.3 In entering the Competition, you confirm that you are eligible to do so and eligible to claim the Prize. The Organiser may require you to provide proof that you are eligible to enter the Competition.
4.4 There is a limit of one entry to the Competition per person. Joint submissions are not allowed.
4.5 The Organiser reserves all rights to disqualify you if your conduct is contrary to the spirit or intention of the Competition.
4.6 Competition entries cannot be returned.
5. Winner
5.1 The decision of the Organiser is final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into.
5.2 The Organiser will contact the winner personally as soon as practicable after the Closing Date, using the contact details provided with the Competition entry.
5.3 The Organiser must either publish or make available information that indicates that a valid award of the Prize took place. To comply with this obligation the Organiser will publish the surname and county of the Prize winner on its website within eight weeks of the Closing Date.
6. The Prize
6.1 The Prize is a two-day level one beginner sailing course for two people. Prize participants must be over the age of 8 at the relevant date of participation.
6.2 The Prize is provided by Rockley Watersports and will take place at Rockley Watersport’s training centre in Poole at Rockley Point Training Centre, Rockley Road, Poole BH15 4RW (“Prize Location”).
6.3 The Prize must be taken during school holidays on a .
6.4 The Prize includes:
6.4.1 travel to and from the Prize Location (travel to be provided by Marine Resources appointed by the Organiser and vouchers will be provided the Prize winner)
6.4.2 the loan of all equipment to be used on the sailing course including safety equipment;
6.4.3 one night’s overnight accommodation (if required) in the vicinity of the Prize Location at a venue to be chosen at the Organiser’s sole election; and
6.4.4 reasonable snacks and meals and drink (non-alcoholic).
6.5 There is no cash alternative for the Prize. The Prize is not negotiable or transferable.
6.6 The Organiser reserves the right to replace the Prize with a Prize of equal or greater value if circumstances beyond the Organiser’s control makes it necessary to do so.
7. Claiming the Prize
7.1 The Organiser will make all reasonable efforts to contact the winner using the contact details provided. If the winner cannot be contacted or is not available, or has not claimed their Prize within 14 of days of the winner being picked in accordance with clause 3.6, the Organiser reserves the right to re-draw the Prize or offer it to the next eligible entrant selected from the correct entries that were received before the Closing Date.
7.2 Once claimed the winner must redeem the Prize by booking directly with Rockley Watersports https://www.rockley.org/contact and provide no less than 4 weeks’ advance notice of their preferred dates. When booking the winner must quote the code given to them by the Organiser and their name to Rockley Watersports.
7.3 The winner must redeem the Prize and book its course with Rockley Watersports to take place no later than 1 September 2020. If the Prize is not booked and fulfilled by this date then it will lapse. The Organiser does not accept any responsibility if the winner is not able to take up the Prize or if they fail to attend a course once booked. The Prize will not be able to be rebooked unless the Organiser decides at its sole discretion otherwise.
7.4 Once booked if a booking is changed within two weeks of the relevant course taking place then Rockley Watersports may charge a £20 administration fee to amend any booking.
7.5 You acknowledge and agree that participation in a booked course will be subject to all relevant terms and conditions of Rockley Watersports.
7.6 Rockley Watersports may reschedule a booking if circumstances beyond its control makes it necessary to do so (for example bad weather, equipment or staff shortage).
8. Liability and Insurance
8.1 Insofar as is permitted by law, the Organiser will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the Prize except where it is caused by the negligence of the Organiser, its agents or distributors or that of their employees. Your statutory rights are not affected.
8.2 The Organiser recommends that the winner puts in place their own insurance to cover the activities undertaken on the course.
9. Data protection and publicity
9.1 The Organiser will only process your personal information as set out in the https://www.southamptonboatshow.com/privacy-policy/ See also condition 5.3 with regard to the announcement of winners.

11. General
11.1 If there is any reason to believe that there has been a breach of these terms and conditions, the Organiser may, at its sole discretion, reserve the right to exclude you from participating in the Competition.
11.2 The Organiser reserves the right to hold void, suspend, cancel, or amend the Competition where it becomes necessary to do so.
11.3 If any provision or part-provision of these conditions is or becomes invalid, illegal or unenforceable, it shall be deemed deleted, but that shall not affect the validity and enforceability of the rest of the conditions.

11.5 These terms and conditions shall be governed by English law, and the parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
